Description of Work
This position performs supervisory, consultative, and promotional work
assisting with local communities in various developmental programs
associated with the Community Services Block Grant program grantees.
This position supervises subordinate personnel engaged in assisting
local officials and community leaders to acquaint them with various
aspects of federal/state programs. This position is also responsible
for attending meetings, seminars, and conferences to attain knowledge
relative to community development programs. Work also includes contact
with officials and staff personnel at the state level, as the position
analyzes proposed and on-going programs. Work is performed
independently under general supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to manage staff, which include developing work plans and
conducting periodic evaluations of employment performance. Conduct or
provide resources for in-service training. Ability to resolve non-
routine issues and apply established policies and procedures related
to business practices and internal control procedures. Thorough
knowledge of accounting and budget procedures. Position possesses
excellent customer service skills and has the ability to communicate
factual information, general guidelines, and standard procedures
verbally and/or in written form. Should be knowledgeable of Excel and
Word.
Training and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in
sociology, psychology, political science, business administration, or
related field and four years experience in social work, public
administration, or a field directly related to the specific program
assignment, preferably including administrative or supervisory
experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additional preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, training,
experience : Experience with Community Services Block Grants.
Knowledge of the Community Opportunities Accountability and Training
and Educational Services Act of 1998, the American Recovery &
Reinvestment Act, the North Carolina Administrative Code and the OMB
Circulars Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
